Sproutable Visual Identity
As a busy mom of two, Jenna Quinlan became increasingly aware of the amount of plastic in her household. Though she relied on reusable containers, she found herself overwhelmed by dirty dishes and frustrated by the number of water bottles her kids misplaced or broke. Like many parents, she also worried about the impact of microplastics and the thought of discarded sippy cups lingering in landfills for decades.
In search of a solution that was convenient, sustainable, and attractive, Jenna dove into research. What she found, however, were products designed for adult beverages, dull brown coffee cups, or compostable materials that required industrial processing. Determined to create a better alternative, she launched Sproutable: a plant-based, 100% home compostable, and fun by design brand built to make eco-friendly living easier for families.
I worked closely with Jenna to develop and refine the Sproutable wordmark and visual identity, creating a brand that feels as fresh and optimistic as its mission. The goal was to connect with families who care about sustainability but don’t see themselves in the muted, utilitarian look of most eco-friendly products. Sproutable stands out from the sea of drab greens, earthy browns, and clichéd tree and leaf motifs that dominate the category. Instead, the designs embrace color, personality, and playfulness. The wordmark, product designs, and packaging were all created to feel modern and joyful, at home in a stroller snack tray or at an adult garden party.
Work with Sproutable included branding and identity development, creative direction, design systems, iconography, illustration, logo design, packaging design, and product design.
